We have talked with the new Hair metal sensation called WILD KITTEN!!WILD KITTEN is a female fronted band from Greece!
The Wild Kitten's album contains 7 songs in veins of golden 80's Hair metal with modern sleazy sound! The release is now available in every worldwide digital stores since mid December 2012.
1.Hi guys, tell us when you formed your group?
Wild Kitten were created in January 2008 out of love towards the hard rock – hair metal genre by the lead singer Eliz and the guitar player Nikki Love.
2.What is the genre of your sound?
Pure hard rock with a touch of sleaze - glam!! Reaping riffs but with the necessary amount of melodic tones! Combined with a strong dose of full energy and passion on stage!
3.What is the source of inspiration for the lyrics? Who writes them?
Mostly our memories, our experiences, all the heartbreaks and all the great 80s songs that accompanied all the above! There is no strict policy in the band as to who writes the lyrics! If a member of the band feels the need to express himself through a song then he provides the lyrics! Up till now, and due to the fact that they know the English language better, the songs have been written by the singer Eliz and the drummer Roxx!
Well, it is in hard rock and metal! And it’s only natural since hard rock was born within the English language, whether it was the U.K. or the U.S.A.
5. What are the reasons by which you decide to give your band the name "WILD KITTEN"?
Out of pure luck!! The original name was to be “White Pearls”!... Telling that name to a friend of ours he overheard the name “Wild Kitten” and he liked it!!! And then we decided to keep the name our friend heard by mistake!!! And I think we chose right!
6.Your album "Wild Kitten" will be promoted in international media, what are your expectations?
It’s our first album and by now we couldn’t be happier with all the buzz it created…Having sold all of our original packing physical cds, we had no intention to make new ones, Japan comes along and places a big order, So we had to reissue the cd! It was great having all that commotion right from the start! Our expectations are to make our music known really, for more people to discover the Wild Kitten sound…
7.How did you decide to sign the digital record deal with Mirko DeFox's HEART OF STEEL RECORDS in Europe?
Berock radio minizine, a good friend and supporter, introduced us to Mirco and HEART OF STEEL RECORDS. The deal was very good and Mirco is very passionate in what he does, he really puts his heart out for the bands he represents and signs with, not to mention never stops promoting them! So we were very lucky, happy and honored to have signed with him!
8.To promote the record are you planning a live tour?
We are in the studio right now trying to finish the record and we still have a lot of work ahead of us. But as soon as it is completed we will certainly start our live shows again to promote the new songs, and why not, try a more broad tour outside of Greece!
9. Have you played in some important festivals?
We have participated in a number of festivals here in Greece, such as Rosewood or Judgement Days festival, which were pretty well organized and we had a blast! We are also very excited for the upcoming Evolution festival which is in April here in Greece, supporting the one and only Jeff Scott Soto! It’s going to be a true hard rock festival with some very respectable Greek bands as well!
10. I would like to have your own point of view about the poor sales of the CD's, it's caused by the internet? technological development?
or it's changed the mentality of the fans?
Well, it’s all due to the techonolgical development, everything is now available through the net, the music, the movies, everything. Either you go along with the flow in that sector or get lost in the way… The best thing for me, when it comes to selling your music, is to have it both ways…Digitally distributed and physical cds for the dreamers out there and the romantic believers! And thank God there are still quite a lot of them! It’s no wonder that even vinyl sales have risen over the past few years! That alone is quite encouraging! But to ignore completely the ’easiness’ that the internet provides, would simply be naïve!

11. You're certainly not a international mainstream band, how do you judge the underground music scene?
The good thing is that new bands arise every day, despite the various difficulties…. That alone is very promising.
Most new bands are more into stoner or death metal or grunge… It really doesn’t matter, as long as there are bands popping out in rock and heavy metal, that means that we’re still on a good road!
